Primary QuestionsCan the early Roman expansion and all it entailed be recognized at all in the regional archaeological record, given the uniformity in material culture? Did the installation of the relatively small contingents of colonists in new territory cause an archaeologically visible discontinuity in the existing settlement patterns in the subsequent decades?
