- These are the preliminary results of a rescue excavation carried out by the Rome Superintendency in via la Monachina, in the locality of Massa Gallesina, at 13 km along the via Aurelia. This work took place between 2007 and 2011 and led to the discovery of a vast necropolis comprising 337 inhumation burials, in simple graves cut into the tufa bedrock, and datable to between the Hadrianic period and about the mid-3rd century A.D. The excavations also identified earlier remains identified as a quarry and a production or rural structure, probably associated with the necropolis.
