    • GALABOVO SETTLEMENT MOUND (Krassimir Leshtakov – leshtakov@abv.bg) The settlement mound was 10 m high and 150 m in diameter. It has been explored in 1988 – 1995. The settlement mound was occupied during the Neolithic and the Chalcolithic periods, the Early and the Middle Bronze Ages, and during the 11th – 13th centuries when a fortress and a cemetery existed on it. In 2018, the explorations were resumed. The main activities were concentrated at the Central Profile along the Line L. The general stratigraphy known from 1995 was confirmed. The data originated from Strata 0 – III, documented in the profiles. Hearths, ovens, dolia and debris from houses were documented close to the profiles. Some profiles were partly destroyed by Mediaeval and Early Iron Age pits. Three strata were documented in the Central Profile. Debris from a burned house and a dolium were excavated in Stratum I in Trench N. A domestic oven was excavated in a house in Stratum II in Trench M, partly explored in 1995. Several fragmentary ceramic vessels and a stone loom weight were found close to the oven. A hearth and a pile of several loom weights were also discovered. The floors of houses in Stratum III explored in 1991 were excavated in Trench L. The finds from the excavations included fragmentary ceramic dishes, jugs and cups, stone tools and weapons, flint artifacts and a gold pendant. The archaeobotanical analysis identified millet, rye, einkorn, barley, lentils, bitter vetch and carbonized oak.
