EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF KRUMOVO (Iliya Iliev – museum@mail.bg) The settlement mound was c. 4.50 m in height and c. 150 m in diameter. Materials from the Late Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods, the Bronze Age, 1st millennium BC and the Roman period were found during field surveys. A geophysical survey on the site was carried out. The existence of a settlement over an area of almost 2 ha was confirmed. A circular stone fortification wall, c. 135 m in diameter, was documented. There was an interruption in the eastern side of the stone wall, c. 20 m wide, and probably the entrance of the settlement was located there. Another identical interruption, c. 10 m wide, was documented on the northern side and another entrance was located there. A construction, c. 45 m in diameter, was documented in the eastern half of the fortified area and probably this was a ditch or a palisade.
