ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF KOSTA PERCHEVO (Galina Grozdanova – galya_std@yahoo.com, Rumyana Koleva) The site was situated at c. 600 m from Kalchovets River. Single Early Mediaeval sherds were discovered on the terrain. Sixty-three sondages were carried out and pieces of iron slag, blooms and ore (haematite and magnetite) were found. A clay metallurgical furnace 44 cm in diameter was discovered. Iron slag, a fragment from terracotta bellows and sherds of the 7th – 9th century AD were found in the furnace.
