The studies undertaken for the creation of the Museum of the Imperial Fora in the Markets of Trajan have brought much new information about the appearance of the upper part of the ancient buildings that comprise the complex and its architectural decoration and sculpture. These developments include the finding of a more precise location of a few figured friezes in the apses of the Basilica and in the exedrae of the porticoes, the discovery of a third order of the Basilica Ulpia, and a series of Dacians placed in acroterial positions on the facade of the porticoes toward the square. Finally a hypothesis was created for the location in the exedrae of the porticoes for the bases with corbel fronts (or with inscriptions in honor of military corps): these seem to be related to the wooden structure of a roof. The research has moreover allowed us to define more precisely the decorative styles and working methods of the workshops in relation to the models represented in the preceding Fora.
