Summary (English)
In the 2022, the SABAP for Province of Viterbo and Southern Etruria requested a watching brief and historic study on several artificial caves situated under the ancient part of the town of Oriolo Romano. These caves were causing static and hydrogeological problems. The research made it possible to understand the techniques used in their creation and provide a chronology for each one. The last cave inspected presented part of a structure belonging to a well shaft probably of Etruscan date. This is the first discovery concerning remains of an ancient underground hydraulic system into the small town of Oriolo Romano.
