Summary (English)
A survey was carried out at Tindari as part of the Watertraces project. The aim was to study the urban water supply and took place following the identification of geological traces of the rising of spring water, made clear by the presence of limestone concretion.
The survey found the connection between an ancient spring and a rectangular cistern, whose opus signinum walls_ were marked by horizontal levels of limestone concretion deposited by the spring water. The archaeological evidence also suggests that a masonry structure was built at some time to monumentalise the spring, as shown by the discovery of opus signinum adhering to the limestone concretions.
