Summary (English)

  • In the summer of 2015 on the territory of Ţărăncuţa village in Chioselia commune, during agricultural works an amphora was found. The vessel is of elongated proportions, made of clay with the addition of sand. On the amphora neck, shabby, indecipherable traces of a stamp are observed. According to the classification of Greek amphorae found in the northern Black Sea, proposed by S.Y. Monakhov (2003), the vessel from Ţărăncuţa can be attributed to the type I-A, version I-A-2 Herakleian ceramic containers, and can be dated to the second and third quarter of the 4th century BC. On the spot where we found the vessel, we excavated a 4×4 meters site, but found no traces of any archaeological complex.
