Summary (English)

  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR APOLLONIA (Krastina Panaiotova – kpanayotova@abv.bg, Dimitar Nedev, Daniel Pantov) Dug outs were discovered, containing a small number of sherds from amphorae and fragments from imbrices of the second half of the 4th century BC. A wall dated to the second half of the 4th century BC was discovered, 50 cm wide, built of dry stones, including ashlars. Probably the wall was the lower part of a shelter related to agricultural activities. A small number of sherds was found, including from amphorae and black-gloss pottery. Pits were explored, 0.80 – 1.40 m in diameter and up to 90 cm in depth, containing single sherds and fragments from building ceramics. Pit No. 3 contained three amphora stamps: one of Heraclea Pontica and two of Thasos, dated to 350 – 325 BC.
