Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF CHOKOBA (Galina Grozdanova – galya_std@yahoo.com) An area of c. 1000 sq. m was explored. Two stoves, a hearth and two pits were discovered. Stove No. 1 was 1.05 m by 0.90 m in size and was preserved up to 45 cm in height. It was constructed of uneven stones with a clay plaster at the foundation. Stove No. 2 had a semi-ellipsoidal layout and measured 1 m by 1.16 m with preserved height of 40 cm. It was constructed of uneven stones. Both stoves were situated in ramshackle buildings. The pit, explored in trench B37, contained burned wood, sherds and fragmentary wattle-and-daub. Early Mediaeval pottery was found during the excavations. The structures discovered dated from the end of the 7th to the beginning of the 9th centuries AD.
