    Summary (English)

    • In 2008 archaeological studies were conducted at the plot XXVI (area: 1025 sq. meters). In 2007 the scientists had found here buildings and the cultural layer attributed to the last quarter of VI-th – first quarter of V-th centuries BC. Fragments of amphoras and cups found in the rectangular sunken-floored building make it possible to suggest dating this building to the second-third quarter of the VIth century BC. In the center of the excavated plot XXVI the researchers completed investigation of the farmstead which consisted of several buildings made of stone and rawhide and situated around small courtyard. Among those findings from the premises, pits and furnaces which date the site, there are ceramic complexes, in particular, fragments of Attic and Corinthian black-glazed ceramics, early versions of Chios convex-neck amphoras, fragments of Klazomenai and Samos amphoras (final stage of the VIth century BC). The remains of the above mentioned buildings are covered with a thick burned deposit (first-second quarter of the Vth century BC). At the new excavation plot XXVII (area: 150 sq. meters) there is an open stone causeway (area: app. 50 sq. meters) with the water channel made of limestone blocks (preliminary dating – Late Antiquity). At the excavation plot XXVIII (area: 200 sq. meters),) the 20-meters extension of the fortress wall was revealed. Excavation of the two buildings has started. No ancient rural settlements have yet beenfound in the western outskirts of Tyritake chora, although large areas have been destroyed as a result of iron ore mining.
