Summary (English)
A small excavation was undertaken on the eastern bank of Lake Fusaro (the ancient Acherusia palus ). This examined the so-called “grotte dell’acqua”, the vaulted spaces of a bath complex, overlooking the lake and still fed by a hot spring. The excavation provided further data for the interpretation of the structure, now extended as far as the building’s external façade, characterised by half columns alternating with projecting pilasters. The construction technique in opus quasi reticulatum and the large cement vaults date the complex to the end of the Republican period, whilst the decorative scheme dates to alterations made during the 1st century A.D.
