Summary (English)
In the modern city of Durrёs (ancient Dyrrhachion), near by Sh. Mazreku school, were revealed the remains of an ancient wall structure, 2.80m long, built in reticulate masonry. Remains of a black and white chest shape mosaic (c. 1m²), were discovered on the floor of this building.
The material from the excavation consists of: building materials (mainly tiles); pottery vessels (Italian and African Red Slip of Hayes 23, amphorae of Dressel 2-4 type and other locally produced vessel). These materials date from the late 1st century B.C. to the end of the 3rd century A.D., giving thus for a dating chronology for this building.
The ruins revealed during this excavation are the remains of the outskirts of a roman building that might have been destroyed by the construction of the Byzantine fortress.
