    Summary (English)

    • As a result of surveying along the planned route of the new pipeline in the town of Apatin, five archaeological sites were first registered and then excavated. The surveyed area along the pipeline is 14.5 km long and runs from the East to the West, from the village of Siljani to the northern outskirts of Apatin.
The site of Štajer (site 5, х=7577412, y=5060911) is located on the northern edge of the city of Apatin. In the control trench opened at the site (120 × 1 m) fourteen features were discovered dating to the Late Neolithic (the Koros culture) and one dating to the Eneolithic period. The Neolithic features are narrow trenches, lengthened deep pits and a big clay pit. The pottery found is made of clay mixed with straw and sand and is occasionally decorated in barbotine technique or with impressed recesses. Besides pottery, parts of clay weights were also discovered. The structure dated to the Eneolithic period is small, rectangular in its base with a narrow trench dug diagonally through it. Pots and bowls discovered within this structure were made of clay tempered with crushed pottery and sand and occasionally have incised decoration. Besides pottery, several chipped stone tools were also discovered in this structure.
